Jordan River Moving & Storage is working very closely with the WUTC as well. Customers call and ask us, “Why did you receive a fine by the WUTC”? This is an excellent question that we are glad to answer. In the last 3 years Jordan River Moving & Storage was audited by the WUTC twice. At first we did not receive any fines,. They asked us to fix some technical information that was missing - phone number, complete address, initials and signature line for customers on the bill of lading and estimate forms. We began to make the necessary changes. We were audited again a few months later. This was not enough time to implement the technical corrections already requested and this time we received a fine of $100 for every missing piece of information. There were nevery any monetary issues for overcharging or bad practice! Jordan River Moving & Storage led the battle for flat travel time and charges for plastic mattress cover for the people in Washington and for that we received the big fine. After we received the fine, the WUTC changed the rule in the tariff. Try to understand our position that we cannot charge people for time in traffic, or for cartons or mattress boxes which are very expensive, hard to recycle, and cost a lot of money for the people in the state of Washington. Yes we paid the price for fighting, for being fair for refusal to overcharge people. When people call our office and say, “We aren't using you because you were fined by the WUTC” we just smile and say, “Who said life is fair?” In recent years the WUTC replaced the tariff twice and Jordan River Moving & Storage was very involved in the process. Everything we submitted is a matter of public record and we invite customers to look into it and understand how hard we fought for better service and better pricing for the people in Washington. |
